With over 10 years of program management, community outreach, marketing, and public relations experience, Michael King has established himself as a willing advocate and effective change-maker in communities he serves. He has coordinated programs with Communities in Schools – San Antonio, Family Service Association, The University of Texas at San Antonio Office of P-20 Initiatives, The Harris Foundation, and Public Allies, to assist and empower students. Mike’s ability to connect with people has been showcased through his personal blog, an entertainment company, TV, and radio shows appearances. He currently supports outreach initiatives at the The University of Texas at Austin for districts served in the Texas GEAR UP State Grant.

King graduated from Our Lady of the Lake University in 2017 with a Master’s degree in nonprofit management, with a focus on business leadership. He received his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin with a double major in sociology and African American studies.

Nathan Griffin

Coach Nathan Griffin played Defensive End at Taft High School (San Antonio) where he was a Varsity player in three out of his four years there. Griffin also played small forward on the varsity basketball team.  He went on to earn an athletic scholarship to play football at Clarion University where he was a three-year letterman. Coach Griffin went on to graduate and earn his Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies. After working in the Nonprofit sector Coach Griffin landed his first coaching assignment at Stevens High School in 2012. During his 4 years at Stevens, he won two sub-varsity football district championships and one basketball district championship as the head freshman basketball coach (20-1). As a football varsity assistant/linebackers coach (2012-2015) he has helped coach his team to two straight bi-district playoff appearances while also propelling one of his linebackers to becoming defensive MVP of the district. Coach Griffin is not only successful on the field of play, but also in the classroom. All four years that Coach Griffin has taught U.S. History, he has had the highest EOC STAAR passing rate out of any teacher in his subject at his school. In addition, the special education students he teaches consistently scoring above the district average on the EOC STAAR.

Coach Griffin currently serves as the DE/Special Teams Coordinator, and Assistant Boys Basketball coach at Vandergrift High School (Austin). 

Gabe Baker

Gabe Baker is a native Texan originally from San Antonio, but has been a resident of Houston since 2010. He completed his undergraduate degree in environmental engineering from Rice in 2014. During his undergraduate career, he was a student athlete and captain of the football team (defensive back) and enjoyed his time leading a Christian campus ministry and playing cello in the university orchestra for non-majors. After exhausting his post-college NFL tryout opportunities, he began working as a roadway design engineer at the civil engineering firm HNTB. Additionally, his three years as a civil engineer, he completed a masters degree in theology from the Christian seminary school, Houston Graduate School of Theology and continued his involvement with youth engagement programs and as an active community organizer for the international charity, "HOPE worldwide." 

Gabe's continued competitive mentality and athletic life has also led to featured athlete appearances on the NBC show "American Ninja Warrior" and season two of the Netflix original series "Ultimate Beastmaster."
